Finance Associate, Foundation
We are seeking a Finance Associate specializing in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to join our team based in San Francisco, CT. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations for the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, this role will support the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions of the Foundations. The goal is to advance the mission of these organizations and the philanthropic vision of the founders. You will collaborate with a dynamic team in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
What You’ll Do
Budgeting
- Support the annual budget preparation for the Foundations, including analysis of historical data and future forecasting.
- Assist Foundation and Community staff by preparing department and program budgets.
- Help load budgets into the finance system (Workday).
- Track spending against budgets and prepare budget-to-actual reports for management.
Analysis
- Conduct financial and data analysis to support organizational decision-making and knowledge building.
- Act as a thought partner to program teams by providing financial and data analysis, data visualization, and report creation.
- Review grantee budgets and financial statements as needed.
Reporting
- Assist with preparing internal monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for leadership, including budget-to-actuals, cash flow projections, and grant spending.
- Prepare schedules to support external reports, such as the Foundation’s annual report, annual audit, and 990-PF and 990-T filings.
- Collaborate with team members and technical experts to improve the Foundation’s reports in Workday, Salesforce, and other systems.
Other Responsibilities
- Serve as a resource and thought partner to non-finance team members on financial topics.
- Support efforts to improve processes and automate tasks to increase operational efficiency.
- Contribute to finance-related projects and implementations as needed.
What’s Required
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of financial analysis and reporting experience in a non-profit setting.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, grants, financial analysis, report creation, and data visualization.
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting, data visualization).
- Problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Strong quantitative analysis and familiarity with data analysis and database tools.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Superb relationship management and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated, self-reliant, with a hands-on approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

The annual base salary range for this role is $65,000-$80,000 (USD), excluding discretionary bonus compensation and our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
